It comes after a poll of 2,000 Brits found half are more adventurous with what they eat when they are on holiday – with 43 per cent ditching toast for breakfast and trying the local cuisine instead.
This is even higher in the 18 – 24 age bracket, with three quarters (75 per cent) claiming to try unusual foods on their travels.
Furthermore, seven in 10 would consider trying exotic foods like durian fruit, lion’s mane mushrooms and sea urchin while travelling or on holiday.
Nearly a third (29 per cent) would be willing to try wild rice and some (four per cent) are open to giving fermented egg a go.
Others would also tuck into raw fish and the spiciest chilli in existence.
Rice brand, Tilda, commissioned the research to celebrate its range of ready-to-heat rice flavours, including the newly launched Saag Aloo Rice and Garlic and Herb Rice.
Spokesperson Anna Beheshti said: “Travel offers a rich tapestry of culinary delights, each one a new adventure waiting to be tasted.”
“Our research reveals that Brits are eager to try new foods while travelling, and this eagerness extends to when they’re home too.
“With many looking for flavour adventures with the ease of just visiting their local supermarket, not having to travel half away across the world.”
Just under four in 10 (39 per cent) consider themselves adventurous eaters in general, with 82 per cent of these saying their preference for exciting food options helps make their meals more exciting.
And two thirds (66 per cent) eat one to four different international cuisines each week.
Furthermore, 35 per cent of all those polled are determined to get more out-there in their own kitchens – rising to 65 per cent in the 18 – 24 year old age bracket.
Almost half (47 per cent) of all respondents are interested in cooking exotic meals at home.
Two-thirds (65 per cent) also believe they’re a lot more experimental with foods than their own parents were.
When it comes to international cuisines people are most interested in trying out, Caribbean topped the list (17 per cent) followed by Malaysian (14 per cent), as 51 per cent are self-proclaimed ‘culture vultures’.
While a further 14 per cent would like to tuck into some Korean food, and 13 per cent would enjoy a Brazilian feast.
Brits are also more likely to get cooking inspiration from travel experiences (24 per cent) than recommendations from friends (21 per cent) or even social media (21 per cent).
Three in 10 respondents would also be likely to travel somewhere in the world, specifically to try a particular food, according to the stats by OnePoll.
Anna Beheshti, for Tilda, which aims to bring a global adventure to British kitchens with its range of 27 flavours, added: “It’s inspiring to see so many people eager to explore the world of exotic cooking at home.
“Social pages are a fantastic source of kitchen inspiration, but you don’t need to journey far or eat unusual ingredients to embark on a culinary adventure.”
